JoAnn Martin Begins New Role as UNIFI’s President and CEO

As of March 31, JoAnn Martin, CPA, FLMI, is president and chief executive officer of UNIFI Companies following the retirement of John Jacobs. Martin also serves as chair, president and chief executive officer of Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. She is a director of UNIFI Companies, chair of the Ameritas Life board and a board member of Calvert, Acacia Federal Savings Bank and all Ameritas subsidiary boards.

Since joining Ameritas in 1984, Martin has held many leadership roles. She was elected senior vice president and chief financial officer of Ameritas Life in 1995. In 2001, Martin was named executive vice president and chief financial officer of The Ameritas Acacia Companies. In 2003, she was elected president and chief operating officer of Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. She was elected UNIFI Companies’ executive vice president and chief financial officer in 2006, and in December 2008, she was named president and chief operating officer.

Martin is actively involved in many community, industry and higher education organizations. Her involvement includes the Federal Reserve Board of Kansas City – Omaha Branch, University of Nebraska Medical Center Board of Counselors, St. Elizabeth Community Health Center board chair, past chair of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce board, National Research Corp. board, Wells Fargo – Lincoln Advisory Board, ACLI Executive Roundtable Committee, Mutual Holding Company Planning Committee and Health Charities Leadership Council.
