Ameritas Officer Elections Announced

June 9, 2006//Lincoln, Neb.//JoAnn Martin, CPA, FLMI, president and chief executive officer of Ameritas Life Insurance Corp., announced the following officer elections effective May 1.

Russ Genzmer, FLMI, ACS, was elected vice president - information technology. Genzmer started with Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. (Ameritas) in 1984 as an analyst/programmer in information services. During his career he has served in various roles, including lead analyst/programmer, project manager and assistant vice president in information technology.

Genzmer graduated from Southeast Community College with a degree in electronics technology. He studied mathematics, computer science and business administration at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln (UNL).

He is a member of the FLMI Society, Association of Information Technology Professionals and Southeast Community College Computer Curriculum Advisors.

Doug Gritton, CLU, RHU, was elected vice president of the PGA (producing general agent) and independent broker dealer (IBD) distribution systems. Gritton joined Ameritas in 1996 as regional vice president - PPGA distribution. He also has served as vice president - Ameritas agency distribution and vice president - Ameritas Acacia career distribution.

Gritton has been active in LIMRA and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He holds the FINRA Series 6, 63, 7 and 24 securities licenses.

Cindy Lavelle, FLMI, was elected vice president - information technology. Lavelle joined Ameritas in 1986. During her tenure she has held a variety of positions, including manager - pilot company; assistant vice president - operations; vice president - product, operations and technology for Ameritas Variable Life Insurance Company; and assistant vice president - e-business innovation.

Lavelle graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a B.S. degree in business administration/ psychology. She serves as president of the Administrative Management Society and is a member of the American Institute of Banking. She holds the FINRA Series 6, 63 and 26 securities licenses.

Ben Mattern, LLIF, CEBS, was elected vice president - retirement plans operations and customer service. Since joining the company in 1982, he has held various positions, including lead analyst - information services, director - pension administration, assistant vice president - retirement plans operations and second vice president - retirement plans.

Mattern graduated from UNL with a degree in finance.

Mary Rutford, FLMI, CPA, was elected vice president - tax. Rutford joined Ameritas in 1984 as a corporate tax accountant. She has held many positions, including manager and assistant vice president - corporate taxes and second vice president - accounting.

A graduate of Cottey College in Nevada, Mo., Rutford also holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UNL. She earned her Master of Professional Accountancy degree from the University of Nebraska.
